Jacked Notes #11 - Fitness Content Is Killing Your Gains

I used to love watching fitness content.

Anytime I had free time, or was driving, I’d throw on a podcast or a YouTube video to learn more about training and nutrition.

But after a few years of this, I noticed something:

The more I consumed, the more confused I became.

Every new video seemed to contradict the last one.

    "Full body is king."
    "No, PPL is superior."
"Train to failure or you’re wasting your time."
"Leave reps in the tank or you’ll burn out."
    "Eat before you train."
"No, you should be intermittent fasting."

At first, it felt like I was just building knowledge.

But when I zoomed out, I realized I was mostly just building confusion.

Because it wasn’t knowledge I was collecting.. it was contradictions.

    And I knew I wasn’t alone.

Most guys are stuck in the same place.

They’ve consumed hundreds of hours of content, they know all the “science,” but they look the same year after year.

    Not because they’re lazy.

Not because they don’t want it bad enough.

But because they’re lost in the noise.

Here’s the truth the fitness industry is hiding from you:

Most of fitness isn’t that complicated.

    Pick your main compound lifts.
    Add accessories for weak points.
Train hard 3–4 days a week.
    Progress over time.
    Eat enough protein.
    Recover.
    Repeat for years.

    That’s it.

    But simplicity doesn’t get clicks.

So the content machine keeps spinning.

    Endless debates over minor details.

    Studies pulled out of context.

Influencers fighting over who’s natty or not.

NOISE. NOISE. NOISE. AND MORE NOISE.

This is why I completely stopped consuming fitness content.

Other than occasionally seeing names pop up on my Youtube feed, I couldn't tell you who the top influencers are now a days.

    Literally couldn't careless.

Old school lifters had half our knowledge but double our gains.

    Why?

    Because they actually trained.

    They didn’t overthink.

What do most guys do in 2025?

They replace training with talking about training.

    They replace discipline with overanalysis.

They trick themselves into thinking they’re improving just because they consumed more information.

I know, because that was me.

Every week I was tweaking my program.

    Chasing the “optimal” split.

Convincing myself that if I didn’t do everything perfectly, I was leaving gains on the table.

    And guess what?

    I gained more knowledge.

    But my physique barely changed.

What finally flipped the switch was what I call the One Source Rule.

I stopped chasing everyone else’s blueprint.

I blocked out the noise and stuck to one system.

And it didn’t matter that it wasn’t “perfect.”

What mattered was that I followed it long enough for progress to compound.

    That’s when everything clicked.

    Strength went up.

    Physique filled out.

Most importantly, I stopped doubting myself every time a new study or video dropped.

So here’s the takeaway if you’re new or struggling to see results:

Pick one source of information or person to learn from.
    Implement their teachings.
    Give it time.
    Block out the noise.

Because at the end of the day, the gym is supposed to be simple.

A place where you show up, push yourself, and walk out better than yesterday.

Not a place of overwhelm and overthinking.

Once you cut the noise, you’ll finally realize how simple this game really is.

If you’d consider me your “One Source”…
and you actually want one of the simplest training plans on the planet…
the kind of plan that gets you jacked in less than 4 hours a week in the gym…

    then this is it.

    Have an awesome weekend
